6 Travel Inspired Gifts for the Man Who Has Everything

He doesn’t actually have everything. He’s just indecisive and too distracted to realize there’s more to life than his go-to brands. Do I suffer from the same problem? Sometimes. But at least I’ve come to terms with it and put together a shortlist of travel-inspired products that will not disappoint even the most discerning gent.

Basil Hayden's

1. Basil Hayden’s Bourbon

He should know by now that a 3oz container of liquid is allowed onboard a flight. Not always welcome, but allowed. Be a friend and get him a corresponding flask and some home-grown Basil Hayden’s Straight Bourbon from the green pastures of Kentucky. Basil Hayden’s is my favorite for drinking neat given its sweet and spicy profile and creamy finish.

Mello

2. Mello Daily CBD

Even the savviest traveler with noise-canceling headphones can find airports and flight delays to be stressful. Until he can actually get to his seat and access that flask while the crew is fastened, he can enjoy a CBD-infused caramel with his espresso near the gate. The individually wrapped Mello Daily Sea Salt CBD Caramels are packed with 15mg of CBD, non-GMO, kosher, gluten-free and all-natural with no added sugar. Not like added sugar would stop me from having more than one to mute a crying infant.

Boqueria

3. Boqueria: A Cook Book

If for some imaginary reason he’s putting off Barcelona again this year, this gift will light a fuego under his ham. The first time Nika and I had a meal at Boqueria in Chicago, we were instantly reminded of our honeymoon in Catalonia. The Boqueria Cook Book is a beautifully published addition to any library with images and recipes that are easy to replicate and hard to forget. The first page he’ll come across is a spread image of a line to Cal-Pep, as if the chicken and seafood paella recipe is not enough inspiration to book flights.

Seiko

4. Seiko Prospex Diver Watch

The good news is that one can never have enough diver watches. The bad news is that we’ve now exceeded the $500 gift budget. The other good news is that it’s a hell of a price range for a watch as “timeless” as the new Prospex collection from Seiko. The Japanese watchmaker has been going strong for over 100 years, and their latest lineup is a statement that celebrates their legacy. Even if he didn’t take you to Barcelona this year, you can still be the bigger person and promote his wrist game.

5. KOIO Capri Sneakers

What’s better than something made in Italy? Wearing something made in Italy in Italy. If he’s still wearing Vans, don’t bother with the watch. Upgrade his sneaker game with the classic KOIO Capri Triple White sneakers that look just as good with track pants on a flight as they do with a suit to dinner (in Barcelona, of course).

6. Framebridge

Whether you shared a special travel memory together or he had it without you, framing it professionally is not as hard as you think. Ask him to Airdrop that one landscape photo from your Redwoods hike so you can upload it to Framebridge later. The online service lets you pick from a collection of stylish frames in various sizes that are expertly crafted and shipped back to you in days, often under $100. How do you think that giant photo of doughnuts from St. Petersburg found its way above our bed?
